The long-awaited community center in Mt. Vernon will commemorate its completion on Sunday, February 23.
Mount Vernon, IA—The highly anticipated Lester Buresh Family Community Wellness Center (LBC) in Mount Vernon is now open for business. The 33,000 sq. ft. facility features a 24/7 gym, track, sport courts, climbing wall, batting cages, and more, and will offer a variety of group fitness classes.
To celebrate the opening of the center nearly 20 years in the making, the city of Mount Vernon will hold a grand opening on Sunday, February 23 from 1 – 4 PM.
The public is welcome to attend the celebration, where they can tour the facilities, meet the staff, preview group fitness classes and try amenities such as the rock-climbing wall, open turf room and state-of-the-art iWall exer-gaming system at no charge.
KZIA will broadcast live from the event and attendees will be able to take photos in the Z102.9 Selfie Station. The celebration will also feature family-friendly games and activities including a children’s obstacle course and bounce house, as well as door prizes.
